Item description

Winter of the White-Tail Buck by Jeanne Hovde (1978 Mass Market Paperback) Author: Jeanne Wright Hovde (1932-2010) Illustrator: Carl Hauge Publisher: David C. Cook Publishing Co. Elgin IL U.S.A. 1978 A young boy hopes to help his family's financial situation and prove his worth by bagging a huge white-tailed deer. Jeanne Wright Hovde (1932-2010) together, she and her husband operated a dairy farm near Birchwood, WI and raised a family of twelve children. Somehow, she managed to carve out time to write poetry, short stories and children's books, eventually having three books published. Mass Market paperback has an almost unblemished cover with a single reading crease in the spine. POS inside front cover. Interior is tight, clean and text is unmarked. Size: 12mo - over 6 - 7" tall, 143pp. Condition: Near Fine Mass Market Paperback – Always Privately Owned, 1st Edition Copyright 1976. Promoted as a "David C. Cook Original," 1st Edition implied. Printed in the U.S.A.. Stated from 4th printing of March, 1978. Publisher catalog: DCC/94961/A2148. ISBN: 0-912692-88-X. LCCN: 75-36698. MSR = $1.75. Notes on Condition/Edition ratings: Fine – means like new, but any book produced over 10 years ago isn't “brand new”. Booksellers needed some word to describe this... Like New – A new book, no marks no damage (except maybe remainder marks or shelf-wear) except not obtained directly from the publisher or in packaging from the publisher. Very Good – How you or I might take care of a book, closer to “as new” than standard. Might show ownership. Good – How someone else might take care of a book. Also referred to as “standard.” The most likely condition for books of this age title, shows the book has been read or previously owned. Acceptable – How a child, student or a librarian might take care of a book. (Either trying to make sure someone doesn't steal it by plastering ownership everywhere, filled it with copious notes or a book that has been damaged.) Poor – Combination of “acceptable” factors above. Most likely with water damage as well. Might have missing pages (you should ask). Near – Means “almost” in an optimistic sense. e.g., “Near Fine” means very good, but on the high end. 1st Thus – Unique somehow, maybe 1st paperback, new illustrator, misprint or even the 1st edition. A collector might desire this copy. Thanks for looking!
