46-piece china set by W.H. Grindley Co. features “The Victory” pattern, registered in England circa 1911. Crafted from semi-porcelain and adorned with 22-karat gold trim, each piece showcases a striking geometric floral motif in alternating pastel panels—white, yellow, and blue—each containing delicate flower illustrations.
The set includes a full dinner service with rare serving pieces:
• 12 dinner plates
• 12 soup/serving bowls
• 7 teacups
• 6 saucers
• 4 oval platters (Large, Medium, Small, Deep Dish Small)
• 1 gravy boat
• 2 covered serving dishes (1 large oval, 1 medium round)
Condition:
Very good vintage condition. Minor crazing on select pieces, one chipped teacup with discoloration, and one stained saucer. Gold trim remains intact across all handles, rims, and knobs.
Historical Context:
This set was produced during the Edwardian era, reflecting the transition into early Art Deco design. The registration number places it firmly in the early 1910s. The geometric floral motif is less common among Grindley’s catalog, making this set particularly desirable for collectors seeking unique patterns with intact gold detailing.
Collector Notes:
Covered serving dishes are often misidentified as tureens; however, these feature grab-point knobs without ladle cutouts, confirming their use for vegetables or dry service. The consistent pattern across all pieces and inclusion of rare serving ware enhances both display and functional value.
Shipping:
Shipped via UPS. This is a large, fragile and heavy item that will be wrapped with extra padding. Weight will be Aprox. 30 pounds, Double Boxed and packed with extreme care.
