Item description

Major Hutchens went to Vietnam as chaplain with the 70th Engineer Battalion and then was transferred to the combat tested 173rd Airborne Brigade. The first chaplain to be wounded in Vietnam, Major Hutchens is holder of the Bronze Star medal for heroism and the Purple Heart. He is now assigned to the 6th Special Forces Group (the Green Berets) at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Beyond Combat provides a fresh approach to the Vietnam war. Not only an account of the experiences of a combat chaplain, here is a confrontation with the reasoning behind a Christian?s participation in warfare, the anxious moments before meeting the enemy, and the power of faith in the face of sudden, violent death.
