This is a VINTAGE, EXCELLENT Condition, Marked "Ceramic Porcelain Opalescent Lusterware Glaze Heidelberg Schloss Castle Beer Stein" Hand Painted and made in Japan in the mid-1950s. Part of my neighbor's father’s Beer Stein collection, she has asked me to help her sell his extensive holdings. This Bierkrug was displayed inside a glass cabinet through the late-1990s when the collection was packed away; recently rediscovered, the collection has been safely and securely stored for over 20 years. It is in EXCELLENT Condition with bright, vivid colors and NO marks, stains, odors, paint wear, chips, cracks, crazing or other damage; it comes from a smoke-free, pet-free home. This HANDSOMELY BEAUTIFUL, Mid-Century Bier Hall Oktoberfest Beer Stein is Marked “Japan”. It has a height of approximately 5 1/2 inches and a diameter of approximately 2 7/8th inches with the handle extending approximately 1 1/2 inches from the body.
The front shows Heidelberg Castle with the words “Heidelberg Schloss” below while the back shows 2 men sitting, talking and drinking at a table with a dog laying at their feet. With 3 dimensional scenes that have great depth and wonderful texture, it is in EXCELLENT Condition with NO Damage. This Beer Stein was hand-painted with an iridescent Orange Lusterware trim that highlights the brightly colored glazes of the front and back scenes, and the GRACEFUL handle is designed to look like wood. This is a FANTASTIC Beer Stein done with luster, high gloss and matte paint glazes.
The lusterware shimmers and the glaze colors really POP! With delicate artistry and a style that is FABULOUS, this Barware Beer Stein was EXQUISITELY painted and glazed all around and inside by a skilled artisan. This Beer Stein is of very high quality and should be sought after by avid collectors; it is the PERFECT addition to any man cave. With artistic appeal and merit, this porcelain Beer Mug is typical of the meticulous attention to detail Japanese ceramic artists paid to decorating their porcelain. This Stein is IDEAL for display in any room at home or work.
