Item description

The Making Of A Big Leaguer was the 6th baseball book in the series of 16 written under the pen name of Burt L. Standish. This is a first edition and is in very good condition. There is some wear at the bottom of the binding from sitting on a book shelf. Someone wrote on the inside cover a #6 in pencil and someone wrote some letters in ink. It is also stamped on the inside cover with a library stamp. The only illustration is that shown which depicts the action on a certain page in the book. I would say it was written for a young audience although the vocabulary would be for an experienced reader. An adult would certainly enjoy it as well. This was The Big League Series and never had a dust cover to the best of my knowledge. The author Gilbert Patten, actually managed a semi-pro baseball team for a couple of years in Maine before he moved to New York, where he lived for a brief time before moving to California, where he died in 1945. He was a very prolific writer. The book has been in a smoke free home. It will ship via USPS Media Mail, unless you are purchasing more than one book and then we may combine shipping in priority mail. We must collect 6% Pennsylvania Sales Tax at checkout.
