Item description

The Annunciation?8.5x11"?Victorian Art ? Auguste Pichon ? Catholic Art Print ? Archival Quality ? St Mary ? Angel Gabriel This Annunciation, painted in the middle of the Victorian era, is unique in its delicacy and restraint. We can see clearly the gentleness of Mary and the care with which Gabriel approaches her. We can feel the stillness of the moment, almost feel the breath she drew as he made the Announcement. Gabriel is pointing to the Holy Spirit, even after Mary has lowered her gaze, for our benefit. Auguste Pichon was one of the most famous portrait painters of the 19th Century. He was a collaborator with Ingres, even assisting on the latter?s self-portrait. He was known for expressing subtle character traits with deft mastery. Notably, he was one of the renovators of religious painting in France in the decades after the disaster of the French Revolution. 1859. Oil on canvas. We print it on special art paper with archival quality pigments, rated to last for many generations without fading when kept out of the direct sun. Standard size. Easy to find a ready-made frame at your local Hobby Lobby. We recommend a wooden frame for this one, of course, either stained or one of the colors in the painting that match your walls. If you're sending this as a gift and would like us to frame it for you, please convo and we'll make special arrangements for you.? 8.5 x 11" acid-free paper? Archival pigments, rated to last for generations.? Cardboard backer? Above story of the art? Enclosed in a tight-fitting, crystal clear bag.** IMPORTANT ** There is about an inch-and-a-third of white space around the picture, so the image is smaller than the paper.
