Up for sale is a unique Jah Hut carving, showing 3 spirits.
It was carved around 1975.
The carving is made from one piece of local hardwood from the Merbau tree, it is about 103 cm in height, about 14 cm wide and around 15 cm deep.
The base measures about 14 x 15 cm.
The weight is about 12.5 kg.

Carvers often draw on their ancient culture and folklore for the subject of the wood sculpture. In Orang Asli culture, earthly and heavenly phenomena are explained through "spirits" or Moyang.
There are spirits of birth, death, illness, parenthood, humor, mischief, deceit, love and other emotional concepts.
The Jah Hut tribe carves elaborate figures depicting forest and household spirits, purely as art pieces and not for worship. Although some of these sculptures may appear scary, the proportion, balance and beauty of these works of aboriginal art shine through.
