Story Behind the Photo: In 1947 the Lewiston High School "Blue Devils" won the Maine State Football Championship. Individual player, team and action photos were assembled into an album by the Lewiston Lodge No.371 of B.P.O.E. (Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks.) This photo was removed from the album. A photo of the album cover appears as our second image. Please note the album cover is not included in this sale, only the photo shown. Condition: Excellent, with album hinge along top white border. Comments: The 1947 championship team was coached by Moses Nanagian. The assistant coach was Izadore Shapiro. The Blue Devils football teams have taken the Class A championship in 1902, 1924, 1925, 1926, 1933, 1939, 1942, 1947, 1949, 1950, 1957, 1960, 1963, 1964, 1965, 1969, 1978, and 1987.
