Book measures 9" x 6" wide x 1/2" thick 370 pages The History of Cal State L.A. began in 1770 when Franciscan missionaries settled on the green hillside that is now the home of Cal State L.A. Then in the 1850s a Basque rancher, Juan Bautista Batz acquired the area through a Spanish land grant and names it Rancho Rosa Castilla for the wild rose growing near the ranch house. In 1947 Los Angeles State College was founded by an Act of the California legislature and opens for classes on the campus of L.A. City College; P. Victor Peterson, president of LACC, becomes acting president of the new college, and Jack Bradley becomes first student government president. In 1961-62 Distinguished Visiting Professor of English: Christopher Isherwood, noted author (his Berlin Stories was the basis for the Broadway musical and film, Cabaret). This would be a great gift for any History buff, collector or student of California History. CONDITION: Binding is tight, no loose pages, nor rips or tears on cover or pages, no markings.
