My grandmother came from Berlin Germany to America in 1955 and brought many beautiful things with her from Germany. She made several trips back home during the 1960's also, and I have a collection of items I can no longer keep because of lack of storage and unavailable shelf space to display them. And since I'm getting older and my children are no longer interested in family heirlooms, here's an opportunity for someone who can truly appreciate these items I have for sale. There will be many more items to come in the near future. This particular ceramic porcelain stein I believe may possibly be from the 1950's or earlier. DESCRIPTION: Available in this listing is a Vintage West German Bavarian Beer Stein with writing on the back that says in German "Ja'so Waren Die Alten Ritter's - Luet!". It measures approximately 7" inches tall by 3-1/4" inches diameter across the base and 2-1/2" inches in diameter across the top. The handle is large enough to place 4 fingers through it comfortably and it is made from ceramic porcelain clay. There is a maker's mark showing it imprinted on the bottom and saying, "Western Germany", a No. 5, another 0.5L for 1/2 a liter, and a line mark from the worker who made it. This stein holds about 2 cups of liquid two inches from the top. CONDITION: This is in excellent condition. The colors are still vibrant, highly glazed and scene presentation good. Some manufacturer glaze indentations here and there which is normal when firing a clay/glaze product. There are no chips, cracks or other issues that would affect the use of this stein.
