Item description

These are 4 mini masks (4" tall x 4" wide) made by Ana Fernandes , Naif Folk Artist in The Jequitinhonha Valley , state of Minas Gerais. These pieces were never exposed and/or used in any of my Shows and remain like the day I bought back in the 80's when I used to travel to Brazil looking for objects to curate. They can displayed horizontally laying on the top of a coffee table or be hanged on a wall because they have a natural rope thread in the back of them. Piece has been in storage for 27 years and is signed by the artist All the ceramic pieces in our listings are handmade and hand painted by well known artisans from the state of Pernambuco, Northeast of Brazil. This specific way of manufacturing clay objects appeared after World War II and for Brazilian standards is considered contemporary Art . The National Museum has the names and data of these artists on file. Some of these creations are now collector's items. They reflect a history and a rich Folklore peculiar to this region where myths and fables are kept alive through generations. Piece will be finely wrapped , double packed , tagged FRAGILE and sent with Complete Insurance Coverage
