1849 Publii Terentii Afri Andria Latin Play Actor's Copy W/ Programs Cast Lists. 1849 hardcover bound volume including four Latin plays including Andria, Adelphi, Phormio, and Eunuchus. 1851 ink inscription, owned by V. T. Green also lists W. Armitstead, and S. Joyce, these names appear on some of the programs/cast lists tucked into this volume they appear to have been actors who performed these works in London between the late 1840s and the 1870s. Published in Latin in London. Tucked in cast lists include: 1) Adelphi 1867, 2) Andria 1850 (lists Armitstead), 3) Andria 1875. 4) Eunuchus 1851 (lists Green), 5) Phormio 1864, 6) Phormio 1848 (lists Armitstead) Ownership notes in ink and bookplate pasted onto front endpapers. Many penciled in notes by actors on the scripts themselves. Some foxing and age toning throughout. Another owner's name inked on back endpaper. Original 3/4 leather binding with some wear to edges. Extremely rare items for a historian or student of production of Roman Comedies in London in the mid-19th century. We wonder whether any other original copies of some of these cast lists even exist.
