The system is comprised of the compact, rugged PB-1 Police Beltpack Transmitter, which is worn on the belt or placed in a pocket, the miniature PLM-1 Police Lapel Microphone, which clips on a lapel and permits complete freedom of movement, and the PR-1 Police Receiver, which mounts inside the trunk or passenger area of the Police car and outputs the received audio to the car's video recording system. The system provides crystal clear audio, which can be vital for recorded evidence. The transmitter and receiver are available in several VHF frequencies for assured interference-free operation in different geographical areas. The PR-1 Police Receiver is encased in an all metal enclosure. Its small, rugged characteristics make it versatile for mounting inside the car or in the trunk. The PR-1 features a universal terminal block for audio and power connections, and a BNC connector that allows quick connect and disconnect of virtually any style of antenna. Power for the receiver is supplied by the car's +12 VDC system. The terminal block also has relay contact connections, which supply a switch contact closure while the transmitter is activated. This can be used to control video activation. The PB-1 Police Beltpack Transmitter features a streamlined, water resistant plastic case with a durable metal belt clip. A raised power switch on the top panel gives a tactile feel for turning the unit on and off even in darkness. The mini jack for the mic connector and a low battery indicator complete the features on the top panel. The battery door is a captive design that swings out for access to the battery compartment. Power is provided b y a 9 volt battery, with battery life rated at 8-12 hours typical. There is also a microphone gain adjustment for fine-tuning the audio output level. The PLM-1 Police Lapel Microphone is a completely unobtrusive, high-response design which can be clipped anywhere on the shirt lapel near the collar.
