This United States First Day Cover (FDC) features the Scott #1126 stamp issued in 1958 honoring Gardening and Horticultural Clubs of America. The 3-cent green stamp depicts a classical figure carrying a basket of fruits and flowers, symbolizing horticulture. The cover is postmarked with a clear "FIRST DAY OF ISSUE" cancellation dated March 15, 1958 from Ithaca, New York. The postmark includes a detailed circular cachet of the Liberty Hyde Bailey Hortorium at Cornell University, indicating the official first day city.
