Item description
The product is an ashtray featuring a political theme related to the 1936 gubernatorial run of Bill Thompson, a former mayor of Chicago. It is made of plastic and was likely manufactured in the United States. The ashtray does not appear to be signed. It is a piece of historical memorabilia from the United States state elections.
Thompson was the last Republican mayor of Chicago, and widely known as the most corrupt politician in the United States. This was made by the Harry Davies Molding Co. This company started in Downtown Chicago in 1931 and is still in business in suburban Carol Stream. Thompson was known as the MOST CORRUPT MAYOR in AMERICA. He failed reelection in 1932 so this ashtray was probably for the 1936 Governor's Race which he also lost.
Great piece of historical political memorabilia.
