Working for Motorola in the 1970’s, Martin Cooper developed the FIRST truly mobile/handheld cordless phone. It worked off an 800 amps ( Advanced Mobile Phone System) carrier. The first call was in 1973. It was not until SEPT. 1983 that it received FCC/IEEE approval and was offered to the public thru AMERITECH/AT T/ BELL AND CELLULAR ONE.
Blending these telecommunications giants. The carrier was called DynaTAC for dynamic adaptive total area communication coverage . The first mobile phone was designated 8000X in 1983/1984 and retail was $4000/appx. $11000 today.
Cost was 42 cents/min- today’s $1.25. Offered in the D.C/Chicago area. These phones forever changed the global culture and social media . It was akin to the first self sustaining nuclear reaction in 1942 or the automobile, or the first Personal Computer. Weighing over 2 lbs and over a foot long. It was nicknamed
“THE BRICK”.
Though not the 8000X, the 8000S WAS pricey !! . IT WAS MOTOROLA’S SECOND FLAGSHIP MODEL”. . Retail $2000. ($5721 today) . It boasted solid reliability and sleek functionality. These amps systems were not encrypted and vulnerable to eavesdropping and cloning. This phone boasted 30 minutes of talk time and stored 30 numbers.

AND DO NOT HAVE ANY SMALL ALPHABET LETTERS NEXT TO THE NUMBER. Only these early phones had This key configuration .
2. All keys back lit green
3. no service and on light up above numbers inputted
4. Send - audio clear and beeps
5. All LEDs light up clearly

1. One (1) beige 7.5V ni- cad corrosion free Motorola battery. After 8 hrs. Holds Very weak charge . 40 year old Battery!!!!!
2. ONE (1) BLACK 7.5V NICKEL HYDRIDE BATTERY - last replacement in world Purchased by seller from Volker Artman- GERMANY. Still holds charge .
3. One (1) beige matching car adapter slide on with 2amp fused plug for 12V .Negative ground car power socket its coiled black cord is perfect.
4. One (1) inclined black plastic desk Charging base with yellow front LED indicator. SPN 4047
5. One (1) black plastic wall power cube SPN 4027A for above base
6. One (1) black leather carrying case
