In 'The Wedding Planner' (2001), Mary Fiore (Jennifer Lopez) is a successful wedding planner whose creative ideas make her clients' weddings a dream come true - but she herself is unlucky in love, and is desperate to meet the perfect man before it is too late. Small-town librarian Barbara Novak (Renee Zellweger) arrives in New York City with big plans, and decides to write a novel that embraces feminist views ahead of their time (remember, this is set in the 1960s), encouraging independence and a healthy sex life above a happy relationship and marriage. The novel, 'Down With Love', becomes an overnight success, and arouses the interest of long-term bachelor and lady-killer Catcher Block (Ewan McGregor). Block decides to put Novak to the test by going against character (playing the shy retiring male) to make her fall in love with him and thus expose her in the magazine he writes for. But he finds himself falling for Novak... In 'One Fine Day' (1996), Melanie Parker (Michelle Pfeiffer) and Jack Taylor (George Clooney) are both single parents with a hectic day ahead of them. While Melanie has to give a presentation at her architectural firm, journalist Jack must attend an important press conference. Due to Jack's forgetfulness, both his daughter Maggie and Melanie's son Sammy have missed their school field trip and, although Jack and Melanie dislike each other, they agree to babysit each other's kids while they keep their respective appointments. Inevitably, a gentle romance ensues.
