Vintage Hand-Blown Murano Sommerso Freeform/ Loop Basket Vase Bowl Decor MCM. It measures approximately 7" Tall x 1 1/2" D at the bottom and weighs 1 lb. 6 oz without any packing materials. This beautiful sculptural Italian Hand-Blown glass has folded/ freeform or a loop at the top that looks like a bow. The bottom is Cobalt Blue, middle is Frosted White and the very top is clear. It is called Sommerso ("submerged" in Italian), or "sunken glasses", is a form of artistic Murano glass that has layers of contrasting colors, which are formed by dipping a gather of colored glass into another molten glass and then blowing the gather into the desired shape; the outermost layer, or casing, is often clear. This Vintage 1960's Murano Sommerso Art Glass would be a lovely addition to any collection of Murano or European Art Glass.
