Item description
#12 in the Tom Swift Jr. series. Grosset and Dunlap hardcover publication. Copyright 1958. Printed around 1958. Likely a first edition, since both the rear dust jacket and internal book list cite to itself. Author "Victor Appleton II." Victor Appleton the first was the Stratemeyer Syndicate pen name for the initial Tom Swift series.
Very good blue tweed book. Sturdy spine and hinges. Blue and white space lab endpapers. "100100" designation on upper right corner of dust jacket front flap. No writing/markings.
Pretty good dust jacket with small chipping at top spine and very minor chipping at lower spine.
In this one, Tom develops the Challenger craft, a high-speed solar-powered gyroscopic aircraft that can reach the moon in a few hours; this craft is also used by him in some of the subsequent books.
Note to New York state residents: an 8.75% sales tax is applicable.
