Item description
Ray Ellis
Morning at the Beach
Amelia Island, Florida
Original book plate (not scanned and reproduced)
rescued from a collection of Ellis' paintings
celebrating the American Southeast Coast published in 1983.
This particular work depicts a scene at Amelia Island, Florida.
The original watercolor was painted in 1982, and is sized 19 x 29.
Ray Ellis (1921-2013) painted for over 70 years. Born in Philadelphia, he attended the Philadelphia museum school of art. He painted in his spare time until 1969, when he devoted all his time to his art. In the 80's he collaborated with Walter Cronkite on a series of fine art books celebrating the nation's coastlines. For 3 consecutive years he was commissioned by the president to paint scenes of the White House for the official Christmas card. His paintings reside in the permanent collection of the White House, museums across the country, and private collections worldwide.
This plate is in excellent condition, on medium-weight paper.
There is no border, the image is printed all the way to the edges.
The left edge is a little rough where it was removed from the binding.
plate size: 12 1/8 X 15 inches
My scanner is 9X12, so I've included 4 thumbnails to show the four corners.
The back side has another image, but nothing shows through.
Highly suitable for framing!
