Item description
Vintage original 11 x 14 in. US double-weight matte photograph from the classic 1960s musical drama biopic, THE SOUND OF MUSIC, released in 1965 by 20th Century-Fox and directed by Robert Wise. Based upon the play by Rodgers Hammerstein, a young novitiate is sent by her convent in 1930s Austria to become a governess to the seven children of a widowed naval officer.
The image depicts an exterior scene on the terrace of the villa of Baron von Trapp (Christopher Plummer) as he discusses his relationship with The Baroness (Eleanor Parker). This photograph was used for publication in a newspaper and features blue grease pencil marks on the recto and verso as well as a portion of the actual newspaper clipping that this photograph appeared in. It is in near-fine condition as shown with one staple in the bottom half of the right border.
Provenance: The Hearst Herald Examiner newspaper archive.
