Product description: The last of Tchaikovsky's three ballets was commissoned in December 1890 by Ivan Vsevolozhsky, director of the Imperial Theaters in St. Petersburg, who simultaneously invited Tchaikovsky to write a one-act opera. The plot is taken from Histoire d'un casse-noisette, by alexandre dumas. The nutcracker is the U.S. translation of nussknacker from the dutch language. This album was originally produced when Amsterdam was in Holland, now the Neatherlands. (Neatherlands, name changed to Holland, and now back to Neatherlands).
