Item description
Vintage original 8x10 in. US single-weight glossy photograph from the classic 1950's horror/sci-fi thriller, NOT OF THIS EARTH, released in 1957 by Allied Artists and directed by Roger Corman. An alien agent from the distant planet Davana is sent to Earth via a high-tech matter transporter. There, he terrorizes Southern California in an attempt to acquire blood for his dying race, the result of a devastating nuclear war. The cast includes Paul Birch, Beverly Garland, Morgan Jones, William Roerick, Jonathan Haze, and Dick Miller.
The image features a scene inside of a laboratory as Dr. F.W. Rochelle (William Roerick) watches Nadine Storey (Beverly Garland) mixing various chemicals together while a nurse looks at the doctor. It is in fine+ condition with several small creases of varying sizes in the top 3 in. of the image area and light signs of wear on the bottom right corner. There are no pinholes, tears, stains, writing, or other flaws.
Cast member Paul Birch walked-off the film before shooting was completed after having a physical confrontation with director Roger Corman. He was quoted as saying, "I am an actor, and I don't need this stuff... To hell with it all! Goodbye!" According to co-star Beverly Garland, Birch objected to the fast pace of the film, the old-fashioned, uncomfortable hard plastic contacts he had to wear, and the film's low-budget, which he considered beneath his status. As a result, Birch's remaining scenes were shot with Lyle Latell doubling for Birch.
