Item description
HOUSE OF SECRETS aka STORM OVER PARIS
by Sterling Noel
(London): Andre Deutsch, (1956).
First UK edition:
The original title of the U.S. edition of the
book was STORM OVER PARIS.
Mild foxing to the page edges, minor bumping
to the shelf extremities, lower rear corner shows a pale stain, else
very good; in a lightly chipped, shelf worn photo-pictorial dust jacket
that shows some light soiling and staining.
Film tie-in book appearing
after the release of The Rank Organization film starring Michael Craig
and directed by Guy Green. The film was released as "House of Secrets"
but the title was later changed to "Triple Deception."
This copy was
presented to the director "Guy" [Green] and SIGNED by the producer of
the film, "Julian" [Wintle]. The inscription is dated 1956 at Pinewood
[Studios].
The printed dedication is to Robert Buckner, the screenwriter
of the film.
Guy Green, was also an Academy Award-winning
cinematographer, co-founder of the British Society of Cinematographers,
as well as the director of many films including the well-received "A
Patch of Blue" (1965). Julian Wintle (1913-1980) was a TV and film
producer, who worked on many British films and TV series, including "The
Avengers".
The story follows a man who is sent undercover to infiltrate
an international crime organisation.
A unique association copy of this
crime thriller set in the racketeering underworld of Marseilles and
Paris.
All dj's have removable acetate Bro-Dart protectors.
