This is a vintage July 24, 1959 10:30pm ticket stub for CBS Television Network Television Studio No. 59 located at 256 West 47th Street, New York: Ted Mack and the Original Amateur Hour. The Original Amateur Hour is an American radio and television program, a continuation of Major Bowes Amateur Hour which had been a radio staple from 1934 to 1945. Major Edward Bowes was the originator of the program and left the hsow in 1945 and died the following year. He was ultimately succeeded by Tec Mac, when the show was brought into television in 1948. The show is a progenitor of later, similar programs such as Star Search, American Idol and America's Got Talent. William Edward Maguiness (Feb 12 1904 - July 12 1976) known as Ted Mack was the host on radio and television. The CBS (Columbia Broadcasting System) is an American English-language commercial broadcast television and radio network that is the flagship property of the CBS Entertainment Group division of ViacomCBS. CBS is referred to as the Eye Network in reference to the company's trademark symbol in use since 1951. The network has its origins in United Independent Broadcsters Inc, a collection of 16 radio stations bought by Paley in 1928 and renamed Columbia Broadcasting System.
