Item description
MR. PIM PASSES BY:
A Comedy In Three Acts
by A.A. Milne
London: Samuel French Limited, 1921.
French's Acting edition No.1342.
The play was originally performed in Manchester in 1919, debuted in London in 1920, and had a long run immediately thereafter of 246 performances.
This acting acting was copyrighted in 1921.
Milne's novelization of this play was published in 1921.
This quality acting edition brags a photograph frontispiece-plate illustration of the stage with the full setting of the play, a lighting and "electric plan" diagram for the set, a diagram with measurements, entrances and exits and outlines of set furniture for the play, a three page list of scene plots, property plots and electric plots for the play, a full page list of Milne's twenty other published plays to date, an original cast list for the Manchester performance, an original cast list for the London performance, and the complete play with directions.
Milne's famous children's book Winnie-The-Pooh was published much after this successful play, in 1926.
This Dramatists publication lists five plays to the back cover, the last being POLLY WITH A PAST by George Middleton Guy Bolton.
This three act comedy features Mr. Pim who is thought to be a similar character to that of Mr. Magoo.
A lovely vintage copy of an elusive play.
Vintage inked owner's name to the inside front cover, small square tan-offsetting to half-title page, slight age-toning to perimeters of covers, tiny nicks some wear to upper spine end, minor crease to upper rear corner tip, very small minor damp stain to inside rear cover at upper corner near the spine, else very good in green stiff card wraps with black titles to the front cover and to the spine and with black printed titles from recent publications to the rear cover; original two shillings and sixpence net price still intact to the front cover.
A significant theater and literary collectible.
