Though Dan Dailey has been a "hoofer" since he was six years old, he first rose to screen stardom via his acting ability. When dancing-Dan arrived in the unpredictable world of Hollywood, he found that he was scheduled to make his film debut in a straight dramatic role. His portrayal of a German soldier, in his first movie "The Mortal Storm," was so effective that he was given a succession of dramatic parts in the many films which followed.
When he returned to pictures in 1946, after four years in the army, people recalled his fine acting but, few remembered that he had originally earned his ticket to Hollywood as a fast-stepping performer. However, in 1946, when he finally donned his dancing shoes again for "Mother Wore Tights" it was evident that his "hoofing" talents had not been dimmed. Since his dynamic performance in "Mother Wore Tights" Dan Dailey has been dancing, singing and acting his way to the top in an impressive roster of movie musicals including: "Give My Regards To Broadway," "Call Me Mister," "The Pride Of St. Louis," "What Price Glory" and "The Girl Next Door."
Recent performances in such outstanding movie musicals as "There's No Business Like Show Business," " It's Always Fair Weather" and "Meet Me In Las Vegas" continue to add to his reputation as one of Hollywood's most versatile stars.
ROBBINS MUSIC CORPORATION is proud to offer another important "first" in this sparkling song collection which reflects the dynamic personality of a great entertainer. "DAN DAILEY FAVORITE FILM HITS" contains melodies which have long been "Dailey Favorites" and includes an array of songs from the many wonderful movies in which he appeared. All of these songs have taken on a very special meaning as a result of Dan Dailey's inimitable "song style."
