Vintage original 11x14 in. US title lobby card from the 1920's theatrical-themed silent film dramatic historical biopic, A STAGE ROMANCE, released in 1922 by the Fox Film Corporation and directed by Herbert Brenon. Based upon the play by Alexandre Dumas, Edmund Kean (William Farnum), the nineteenth century English tragedian, saves a young woman from a fortune-hunting adventurer. He also saves a nobleman's wife from being led astray by the Prince of Wales. When Kean publicly denounces the Prince from the stage, he is exiled to America. The young girl he rescued becomes his wife and sails with him. The cast includes Peggy Shaw, Holmes Herbert, Mario Carillo, Etienne Giradot, Bernard Siegel, and Hal De Forest.


The design features a photographic portrait of the film's star, William Farnum, which is flanked by artwork depicting the temptations of wine, women, and gambling on the left side and the riches to be earned on the right side. It is unrestored in near-fine condition with five pinholes in the top left corner in the borders and background area; the number "39" handwritten in light grease pencil in the center of the top border; two pinholes in the top right corner of the background area; one pinhole stranding the right border and one to the right of the credits box with a small tear on the right to the right; give pinholes in the bottom border; and a diagonal crease of varying sizes on the bottom corners.
