HISTORICAL BACKGROUND


PROVENCE - COUNTY OF PROVENCE - ROBERT D'ANJOU

(1309-1343) 

Robert (1277-1343) was the son of Charles II Cripples and Mary of Hungary. Robert titular king of Jerusalem and Sicily, King of Naples and Count of Provence. Married in 1297 to Yolande of Aragon (1302), he had a son, Charles (1298-1328). This is his little girl, Joan of Naples, (1326-1382) who succeeded him.
