Remember that delightful refrain from a children's popular song? Well here is a wonderful vintage play set....Playmobil's #5921 Zoo of Baby Animals. This set is 100% complete with many of its components still sealed in their original bags. It also includes its original instructions.

Manufactured in Germany in 2009, it features a number of baby animals---a chimpanzee, several different kinds of monkeys, a giraffe, a rhinoceros, a hippo, a toucan, a peacock, and a couple of different colored parrots. The friendly zookeeper brings an assortment of food to the animals---hay, carrots, pineapples, bananas, cauliflower, cabbages etc. A mother and her son stroll around the Zoo of Baby Animals, munching on popcorn while the zookeeper pushes his wheelbarrow around with the different foods. Each of the "cages" afford a great line of sight for the visiting public and are replete with different kinds of vegetation, trees, or vines for the animals well-being or play time. This is a wonderful set that is sure to delight any youngster.

Although the contents of this box are in MINT condition, the box itself shows some edge wear, some creasing, and the separation of a couple of the flaps at the corners. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being perfect, I would rate this box as being an 8-8.5/10.

FYI, Playmobil toys are renowned for their high quality, durability, attention to detail, and the extendibility of their underlying toy system. All figures are scaled to fit in a child's hand with add-on accessories (e.g. hats, skirts, aprons, collars, scarves, armor, headdresses, shoes, sandals, jewelry etc.) lending authenticity to the different characters involved. The jointed figures are able to clasp items in their hands and move about through "child power." A wide assortment of vehicles, animals, furniture, and buildings are realistically scaled according to their "real-life" equivalents and to reflect actual life scenarios. Several of the animals have mouths that open and close and the elephants' trunks can pick up buckets by their handles etc.. All of Playmobil's play sets revolve around established "themes" familiar to young children (e.g. Medieval Castles and Knights, Pirates, Western Forts, Native Americans, Trains, Stage Coaches, Gold Mines, Circuses, Zoos, Victorian Mansions, Fairy Tale Castles, Sherwood Forest, Construction, Doctors and Dentists' Offices, Hospitals, Airports, Modern Homes etc.). Due to the level of detail, children's imaginations are afforded endless open-ended play opportunities. Not only do these toys broaden a child's imagination, creativity, attention, and use of elaborate oral narratives, they also facilitate a child's cooperative and dramatic play skills and fine motor capabilities. These toys have won numerous national and international toy awards and conform to the highest production standards of quality and safety in accordance with European and American safety guidelines. The toys, while primarily manufactured in Germany, also are produced in Malta and Spain. They are distributed in more than 70 countries throughout the world. 

I can vouch for the high quality and play value these toys afford. My own children played with a variety of these sets up until age 13! Talk about getting "your bang for the buck." Several of them were employed in school diorama projects. What a lifesaver! I also used them with my preschool and school- aged clients for speech-language therapy. They'd be great for families that are home-schooling their children.

Due to the small, intricate parts, Playmobil recommends that these toys be reserved for children 4 years of age and up. However, my daughter, who never mouthed her toys and was advanced for her age, received her first Playmobil toys at 2 1/2 years of age. Adult supervision is highly recommended for children under 3-4 years of age.

This set comes with its original box. It weighs approximately 5 lbs. UNWRAPPED. It measures 25" L x 20" W x 4" H. My location is Lafayette, IN (47905). I will probably be sending this set via Fed Ex Home Delivery.

I primarily utilize Fed Ex Home Delivery for items exceeding 5 lbs. in weight, measuring greater than 12 inches in any dimension, or traveling longer distances. I’ve been finding Fed Ex has been running @33% cheaper than the USPS (including Parcel Post) and UPS Ground. FYI, another benefit of using either Fed Ex or UPS is that their quote includes up to $100 worth of FREE insurance. Additional amounts of insurance may be purchased for a nominal fee (that is much less than the USPS). Fed Ex also provides automated tracking updates re: your parcel’s whereabouts directly to your personal e-mail account. In order to ship Fed Ex (or UPS for that matter), I MUST have a residential or work place address, NOT a P.O. Box number, as well as a home or cell phone. Otherwise, they will not accept the shipping paperwork or transport your item.

Since Bonanza's shipping calculator does NOT offer Fed Ex Home Delivery as a shipping option, PLEASE DO NOT SEND PAYMENT UNTIL I HAVE HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO MANUALLY CHECK THESE RATES AND INSERT THEM INTO YOUR INVOICE. Otherwise, the shipping calculator may overcharge you. Packages traveling to Alaska or Hawaii will be shipped Parcel Post via the USPS. Insurance and delivery confirmation are required. I’m more than willing to combine multiple purchases into one box whenever it is safe to do so to decrease your shipping costs.

Once again, PLEASE wait to check out until I can combine your purchases on ONE INVOICE and can calculate their combined shipping rate via Fed Ex. If you pay for these items separately, I get charged multiple transaction fees by PayPal plus you get over-charged on your shipping.
