The Scuf Impact is a fantastic-feeling controller with unprecedented options for customizability and personalization.

With the strange absence of a pro-level controller for the Playstation 4, dedicated players must turn to third-party manufacturers for a gamepad that gives them a competitive edge. Scuf is one such company that offers more profound technical and cosmetic options for its custom controllers. Its Impact controller line is wonderful and dedicated and professional players will find much to like in the myriad customization options it offers.

The Impact is built around the basic structure of the DualShock 4 controller, with the internal hardware remaining very much the same. Although slightly larger than the stock gamepad, and with more pronounced curves near the grips, the gamepad retains the same general shape and feel. It's about an eighth of an inch wider, and 8.5 ounces compared with the standard DualShock 4's 7.7 ounces. Scuf does grant the option to remove rumble support if you feel a pressing need to shed a few extra grams.

Battery life is comparable with the DualShock 4, lasting for around seven hours of gameplay. One noticeable change to the hardware is the Impact controller's native compatibility with PC via a wired connection, a feature absent from the stock DualShock 4.
