Vintage Hull Ceramic Planter with Legs
Oval, Sea Mist Green
B32, 1960s, USA

This beautiful oval drip glaze ceramic planter with four legs was made in the 1960s by the pottery designer, Hull. Hull is a famous pottery-making company that began production in 1905 in Crooksville, Ohio If  you look on the bottom, you will see the lower case ‘hull’ which the company began using in the 1960s on the House ‘n Garden dinnerware lines; they later added the copyright symbol (c in a circle). The letter "B" and Number "32" could either be the designer's number or the mold/size number.  Apparently the letters USA are found on most all pieces.

The planter is a lovely sea mist color (greenish blue) and has a raised flower design all around the outside. It is 6.5 inch long and 3.5 inches in height, 3 3/4 inches at the widest point, 2.5 inches deep and weighs 1 lb, 3 ounces. The interior is smooth and the same color.  Obviously it has never been used.  It is in very good condition, no chips, cracks or crazing, but there is a small white spot on the the inside of the back lip.  It is either a production flaw or something has been scraped against it. (See the second and last picture above.)  The mark is superficial and does not go into the core of the planter.

This is a real find!  A great addition to any ceramic collection and a lovely example of Americana.  Make an offer today!
