Collections offered in this collection include a group of dresses worn by Diana, Princess of Wales, property from the estate of Gypsy Rose Lee, property from the collection of science and science fiction visionary Colin Cantwell, items from the James Bond film franchise, property featured on the hit television program Pawn Stars and so much more.

 

Diana, Princess of Wales was an icon of style and grace. The world watched to see what she would wear and how she would wear it. The Icons & Idols auction includes five of Diana’s personal ensembles: a wool coat dress worn by the Princess in 1982 while visiting a community center and in 1983 while traveling with her young son William; gowns worn to public events in 1993 and 1997; and an elegant strapless gown worn to a private event. The dresses were made by designers: Catherine Walker, Zandra Rhodes, and Caroline Charles.

 

Julien’s is proud to present a personal selection of items from the estate of Gypsy Rose Lee. Lee, subject of the film and Broadway musical Gypsy, is remembered as the world’s foremost burlesque dancer. When she passed away in 1970 her son, Erik Lee Preminger, sold a number of his mother’s possessions at auction — but not everything. According to Preminger “I kept things that had an emotional connection, that somehow kept her alive for me. … what you see here is a son’s emotional construct of his mother. It’s an eclectic collection: the gloves that were a trademark of her strip, a set of the towels that were monogrammed with her initials — Mother put her initials on everything from every door in her house to the doors on her Rolls Royce, the rhinestone studded heels from the shoes in her act, the foxtail fur from the Tiger Rag shimmy dance that was the finale of her acts, her personal stone martin stole that she wore all the time …” Also among the items in this collection are Lee’s 1942 wedding ring, artwork, costume pieces, and childhood photographs.

 

Science Fiction fans, set your phasers to “stunned”! Julien’s has assembled an astounding collection of Sci-Fi memorabilia beginning with property from the collection of scientist, engineer, animator and visionary Colin Cantwell who contributed to Hollywood’s most iconic science fiction films. The property offered comes from Cantwell’s landmark work on Star Wars, 2001: A Space Odyssey, WarGames, Aliens, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, television programs Battlestar Galactica and Buck Rogers, as well as items from Omnimax films and the 1969 Apollo Moon landing. Other out-of-this-world science fiction property includes a Star Trek original laser prop weapon from the series pilot and costumes from the franchise as well as costumes from Dune, Tom Corbett, Space Cadet, Planet of the Apes and Lost in Space.

 

James Bond’s next assignment is to thrill auction go-ers as Julien’s auctions props, vehicles, set pieces and gadgets. Bond has some interesting ways of getting from point A to point B. In Die Another Day, Pierce Brosnan fought villainous thugs while driving an Osprey 5 hovercraft. Of the seventeen crafts built for the film only a few survived destruction and one is offered for sale here. Octopussy saw Roger Moore’s Bond flying the world’s lightest single engine jet in the world. This BD-5J, built by stunt pilot J.W. “Corkey” Fornof, is offered to the high flying winning bidder. Never one to simply drive a car, in Tomorrow Never Dies Bond used a mobile phone/remote control for his escape from the bad guys. This prop, along with other props, posters and signed items, are among the items in this 007 collection.

Following this amazing selection of Icons & Idols on Saturday, December 6th, 2014, Julien’s Auctions will be presenting an exclusive collection of historic items from the World Famous Gold & Silver Pawn Shop of Las Vegas. The curated collection will include antique guns, automobiles, rare books, military artifacts, rock ‘n roll photographs, political memorabilia, and other sought after items, many of which were featured on the popular reality television show airing weekly on the History Channel.

 

Highlights from the collection include a 1933 Chevrolet Master Eagle Series four-door sedan (Estimate: $15,000-$25,000), a rare 1917 Indian Model B motorcycle, one of only four ever made (Estimate: $40,000-$60,000), and an early 1960s Spacelander bicycle (Estimate: $8,000-$12,000).

 

Also available for purchase will be an “American Flag” painting from a WWI airplane fuselage (Estimate: $2,000-$4,000), a first edition of the Dickens holiday classic “A Christmas Carol” (Estimate: 8,000 to $10,000), a Fender Stratocaster guitar previously owned by Vic Flick and used in the recording of a number of pop songs including “Ringo’s Theme (This Boy)” from the iconic Beatles film “A Hard Day’s Night" (Proscenium Films, 1964) ($40,000 to $60,000), and an original driver’s license and photo ID issued to the late great Johnny Cash in 1964 ($6,000 to $8,000).

 

The collection will further include an unreleased alternate version of the cover art for the Beatles Sgt. Pepper’s album (Estimate: $800-$1,200), an outlaw John W. Hardin business card (Estimate: $2,000-$4,000), an antique trephine bone drill (Estimate: $1,000-$2,000), a Jimi Hendrix painting by artist Denny Dent, signed (Estimate: $5,000-$8,000), a collection of 1960’s vintage psychedelic rock flyers for concerts held at the Grande Ballroom in Detroit(Estimate: $1,000-$2,000), an ornately engraved Marlin Model 1894 lever-action rifle (Estimate: $8,000-$12,000), a WWII German U-boat memento (Estimate: $800-$1,200) and a Pistol Range arcade game, circa 1920 (Estimate: $4,000-$6,000) among many other items to be offered.
