Brand new factory sealed dvd is the best version to date in my opinion. Way better than the new obese Godzilla movies.

The film begins with an effective title sequence that obliquely explains that GODZILLA is an iguana mutated to immense proportions by nuclear testing in the French Polynesian Pacific. Many years later, Godzilla surfaces on the Atlantic coast, and after wreaking introductory havoc in Manhattan, actually ducks for cover like a mischievious imp within the city.

Matthew Broderick is Nico Tatopoulis, a Greek-American scientist working for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, who is pulled out of Chernobyl--where he's studying the growth of radiated earthworms--to lead the investigation. Once there, he uses a store-bought home pregnacy test to determine that Godzilla is pregnant.

He also meets old flame Audrey (Maria Pitrillo), a wannabe news reporter who takes the homily "Nice guys finish last" to heart and steals a classified tape from Nico--which is then stolen from her by glory-hogging news anchor Charles Caiman (Harry Shearer).

Fired from the assignment for breach of security, Nico--along with news photographer Animal (Hank Azaria), and Audrey, who wants to make good--joins members of the French secret service, led by Roache (Jean Reno), to find Godzilla's nest and destroy the eggs laid therein.

The climax is an absurd chase, in which an ordinairy taxi manages to repeatedly outrun an enraged Godzilla, but it culminates in a memorable finale on the Brooklyn Bridge!
