This twist on the classic childrens fairy tale with a reversal of the sexes, has Jerry Lewis as the brow beaten-lackey, Fella. He lives in a mansion with his evil stepbrothers (Henry Silva & Robert Hutton) and wicked stepmother. They keep him around to do all of the household chores because he knows where his late father's loot is hidden.

One day a Fairy Godfather (Ed Wynn) appears to have Fella help settle an ancient score. That an ordinairy, not-so-good looking guy, can end up married to a Princess. With the help of a little magic, he gets to the ball and meets the Princess (Maria Alberghetti). With Count Basie and his world renowned band featuring Joe Williams.
