Description
Offered here is this nice set of Antique Solid Wood Compartment Doors for Chest or Dresser. The doors are in good condition; however, the finish is quite worn on both, and they will need to be varnished at the least. The finish on the inside of the doors is still in remarkably good condition, with little wear at all. This shows what they would have looked like when they were first done. I am unsure of the age or origins of the doors. They most likely went to a dresser or chest of some type. They both still have the original hinges intact, however, the latches on the inside edge that would have kept them closed is missing on both pieces. Both pieces have lovely decorative trim attached to the fronts. They once had knobs in the center, but these are also missing now. There are notable circular marks and holes in the center of each where these knobs would have been. I do not know what type of wood they are made from, but they are both made of solid wood. Each door is 10” from top to bottom, 9” from side to side, and about .75” thick, not including the decorative trim on the fronts. They are a nice set of solid antique wood doors that could be used in many different projects, and of course, would be a nice replacement to some antique piece of furniture.
