Vintage original 8x10 in. U.S. deluxe double-weight photograph, very fine condition. Provenance: The Sydney Barker Collection. The lavishly mounted silent film costume drama/romance MONSIEUR BEAUCAIRE was released in 1924 by Paramount Pictures and directed by Sidney Olcott. The film stars Rudolph Valentino as the Duke de Chartres/ Monsieur Beaucaire. The image features a close shot of King Louis XV of France (Lowell Sherman) talking to the handsome Duke de Chartres (Rudolph Valentino) about a delicate matter. Both men are wearing very elegant period French costumes which are a testament to Paramount's costume designer at the time. Printed on double-weight stock with a matte finish, this vintage original photograph was printed at the time of the film's initial theatrical release. It is in very fine condition with just light signs of wear on the tips of each corner and a tiny black dot (most likely from a ballpoint pen) on the edge of the right border above the bottom right corner.
This beautiful original photograph was once in the collection of Sydney Barker, of the prominent early collectors on Valentino.
