J ROLANDS
 (American, 1913 -    )
J. Rolands is a Dutch artist born in Delft, Holland in 1913. Taking after his father, he became a pharmacist as a practicle way to pay the bills, and give him the time to pursue his true passion of an art career. As he became more drawn to painting, he attended the Royal Academy of fine Arts in Amsterdam, which produced artists such as Johannes Bosboom, Isaac Israels, Willem Maris, Jan Hendrik Weissenbruch and George Hendrik Breitner. Shortly after graduation, he opened a studio and was successful from the start. Roland's favorite subjects are Dutch Canal scenes, landscapes and charming street scenes of the old world. His style is very impressionistic and expressive with exquisite use of architectural elements. His work is exhibited throughout Europe and the United States.
