The 2007-P Doubled Edge Lettering Overlap John Adams Presidential Dollar is considered a semi minor error as it is only supposed to have the inscriptions on the edge once, and not doubled or overlapped. Interesting error coins overall that appeal to many Presidential Dollar collectors.
The John Adams Dollars were officially released into circulation on May 22, 2009.
The John Adams Dollar was the second Presidential coin released in the Presidential Dollar series. Coins which first entered circulation were in the average grades of MS63 to MS64. Coins in grades of MS66 or higher are very difficult to locate despite the large mintage. Coins in grades of MS67 are almost unheard of and less than one out every million coins exist in MS67 condition. There are probably no coins in existence, in the grades of MS68 or higher.
Obverse: A portrait of John Adams is depicted on the coin along with the inscriptions John Adams above his portrait. Arched below him are the inscriptions 2nd President 1797-1801 referring to the years in which he served as President of the United States.
Reverse: On the reverse of the coin the Statue of Liberty is depicted. In front of her is a $1 symbol indicating the face value of the coin. The words United States of America are also encircled around the coin.
Edge: The edge inscriptions will read 2007-P which refer to the date in which the coins were released into circulation, along with the mint mark representing the Mint in which the coins were produced.
