FYI

1855 Adam Josef Racke - son of a Mainz wine merchant family - founded the company in Bingen am Rhein, now 155 years later, the company falls apart because of oppressive pension payments.

GERMANY (Bremen) - In 1855, Adam Josef Racke, son of a Mainz wine merchant's family, a company that should ascend to the big companies in the field of wine and spirits brands a hundred years later. Roller stand for the whiskey Rauchzart as well as the brandy Scharlachberg and the brand wine Amselfelder from Kosovo, millions of bottles were sold of the year. Later, the whiskey and the wine moved into the background, other, qualitatively valuable wine brands such as Golden Kaan, Espiritu de Chile Grande Vitea and joined the successful Blanchet.

Racke is Rauchzart a German Whisky of Schwarze & Schlichte brand Vertriebs GmbH of Oelde . The brand is for Ballantine's , Jim Beam , Johnnie Walker and Jack Daniel's the most sold Whiskey in the German market and is sold since 1958.

The name of the whiskey goes back to the brand founder Harro Moller-Racke of the Binger wine and spirits company handle Adam Racke GmbH & Co. KG. The Rackes, originally French Raquet have proven since the 17th century in the Rheingau made ??their relevant businesses in the industry; Adam Josef Racke founded the trading company in 1855. In the beginning of the economic boom after the end of  World War II saw Moller-Racke, that the market in West Germany was ripe for the successful introduction of a German brand of whiskey, which - in contrast to what were then considered exclusive and expensive traded luxury product of Scotch whiskeys - was priced affordably for the average consumer.

1958, bottled and sold 850,000 bottles. The blend consisted of a mixture of imported Scottish malts, with the domestic grain spirits Racke in the own production plant in Rinteln wastage and let distill at various producers. The blend was first introduced under the name of Red Fox in the market and advertised massively, leading to legal problems. The Scotch whiskey industry argued that the English name a reference to the Scottish origins manufacturing, even though the product had not been manufactured by Scottish production. Racke then changed in 1961 the name into tonight Racke Rauchzart but maintained the red fox as a brand emblem on the bottle label. Moller-Racke expanded and acquired brands such as Pott's rum and brandy Dujardin , this resulted in a holding together (Pott-Racke-Dujardin GmbH & Co. KG) and thus became the largest wine and spirits producers and distributors in Germany. 2003 acquired the Schwarze & Schlichte group the trademark of Racke Rauchzart together with the more than 33,000 square meters production facility of A. Racke GmbH & Co. KG in Rinteln. The business activities of Racke ended in of 2009.

The new owner took care of the character and the product properties of the altered over time claim behavior of consumers for quality and sensor of whiskeys. Since 1990, for the Blend only in Scotland produced malt and grain whiskeys used (up to 25 individual distillates), the intersection will, however, continue to be held in Germany. To adapt the barrel ausgängigen strengths on the commercial 40 Vol .-%, a special, filtered, spring water from a 240m deep well is used.
