This vintage Hard book (288 pages) is in Very Good condition inside and out, with its original paper dust jacket.  Dust jacket is in very good condition, especially given this book’s age.  This appears to be a 1962 version of the 1961 original.

About Author:

Maurice Edelman was a novelist and journalist who served as a Labor Member of the British Parliament from 1945-1975.  He died at age 64.

Mr. Edelman's unusual double career threatened to overshadow each of his pursuits, as he once noted:

“For a long time, politicians tended to regard me as a literary dilettante who'd stumbled into politics, and the literati, as a bumbling politician who's blundered into writing. Any time anyone in the House wants to challenge me, he says, ‘The honorable Gentleman is very good at writing political novels, but . . .’”

Actually, Mr. Edelman's books, including a number of nonfiction works on politics and foreign affairs, were generally well‐received by reviewers, although they did create some problems for the author, whose fellow M.P.'s were forever looking for themselves in the pages of his political hovels.

“When there's an attractive character,” he once observed, my colleagues in the House tend to identify with him. When there's an unattractive one, it's always somebody else.”
