This is a stunning hand crafted belt made by the well known jewelry artisan Marjorie Baer. She has been in business since the early 1960s in San Francisco, California. This belt is made of brass and is embellished with a round faceted black cabochon stone. There is an intricate round portion with a Siamese dancer and the words Hope, Faith, Charity and Peace surrounding it. The belt is as much a “work of art” as it is an accessory.

The buckle alone is approximately 5 inches long and 2 inches tall. The belt is 40 inches in length and is adjustable and can be worn in various lengths depending on which loop you hook the hook or tongue of the buckle into. The hook fastener is hidden under the end of the buckle. There are two types of chain on the belt. The back of the buckle has an oval cartouche plaque signed BAER SF ©. The belt weighs a total of 5.6 ounces on my postage scale, which converts to 158.76 grams. Marjorie Baer is still producing wonderful jewelry today. I believe this belt is from the 1970s or 1980s. I don't remember when I first purchased it.

This is in great vintage collection with a wonderful patina to it as you can see in the enlarged photographs. I have not polished the brass, I will leave that up to you if you so desire. It has the normal tarnishing and some slight verdigris you find on older brass pieces. There is some damage to the black glass bead that is connected in the metal links. There is a chip on one corner (see arrows in photo). You don't notice it when you are wearing the belt, since the buckle is so striking.

This is a real statement piece and a one-of-a-kind find to add to your collection.
