For your consideration is an antique Beta Sigma Phi membership heart charm (1955). Marked Sterling. The heart is 1/2" tall and 3/8" wide.
Beta Sigma Phi was founded by Walter W. Ross. In 1931, during the Great Depression there was a need for an organization that could bring women together. Members worked together to raise $22 million in war bonds during World War II. In the 1950's membership doubled and today there are over 165,000 members. They raise more than $3 million for local charities and donate over 200,000 volunteer hours in an average year. It is know around the world as "The Friendship Organization."
A wonderful piece of history.
