The pages are clean but tanning, there are library markings on the front end paper. The binding is starting to weaken, but all the pages are present and attached.  The cover shows wear at the corners and spine ends. Acceptable. Hardcover.

A night watchman, threading his way along Pottery-Making Street, struck his musical gong and called lustily, "It is the Hour of the Dog and eastward blows the wind." Chang, the Potter, and his adopted son, Chang Fen, were closing the panels of the shop. Though Chang's words sometimes cut like the lash of a bamboo whipping rod, his voice was gentle as he turned to the boy and spoke behind his hand, "O-yo!
