The Marid may be the fewest in number among the Djinn, but they are the strongest. It is said that a Marid was the first Djinn, and his brothers began the other tribes. Marid are solitary beings, and often live near the coast. On very rare occasion, a Marid Djinn is bound to a vessel or object and will serve his master, granting unlimited wishes and bestowing great wealth and wisdom upon his master. This Djinn is not only a master of wishes, but also possess great knowledge of magic and have assisted kings and priests. They are also known as “blue” Djinn and are most often the friendliest, wish-granting Djinn. However you must still be careful not to anger a Djinn. They can be seen to travel across water as a waterspout and have been known to wreck ships using the wind and waves. The elders of the Marid tribe, being both proud and powerful, allowed each individual to make his or her own choice, whether to join or stay out of the struggle between good and diabolical powers. Indeed, many Marid chose the mundane world as a result of the Council, choosing to leave rather than side with the two contesting powers. Iblis, the ancient leader of the Ifrit, is said to have a great hatred of the Marid. Legend says that it was the Marid that prevented the Ifrit and the Shaitan from destroying the Djinn in a great battle after the Council of Choice. A Marid may appear as a wise old man or a porpoise, or a horse, leading travellers to wise courses, and now is your chance to bond and control one of these powerful ancient beings.
