This is the 2018 USPS issue of 20 self adhesive FOREVER stamps in celebrating  Christmas with four stamps featuring classic images of Santa Claus painted by famed commerical artist Haddon Dundblom originally published in ads for The Coca Cola Company from the 1940s throught the early 1960s.  Each stamp portrays a close-up of Santa's face. Cartoonist Thomas Nast embellished Santa's look in his drawings for the magazine Harper's Weeekly.

Santa's legend is based on customs brought to America by European immigrants. St. Nicholas, the Dutch Sinterklaas, was one of Santa's forebearers who delivered gifts on December 5, the eve of his feast day.
