Born Georgio Kyriacos Panayiotou, George Michael was an English singer, songwriter, record producer, and philanthropist who rose to fame as a member of the music duo Wham! He was widely knokwn for his work int he 1980s and 1990s with hit singles 'Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go' and 'Last Christmas' and albums such as Faith (1987) and Listen Without Prejudice Vol 1 (1990). Michael, who came out as gay in 1998, was an active LGBT rights campaigner and HIV/AIDS charity fundraiser. He performed the final concert of his life at London's Earls Court on October 17, 2012. In the early hours of December 25, 2016, Michael, aged 53, was found dead in bed at his Oxforshire home. A coroner's report attributed his death ot natural causes.
