Beautiful antique Pennsylvania small glazed redware apple butter crock or jar. 3 7/8" diameter on top, ~2 3/4" diameter on bottom, and is ~4 1/4" tall. The piece weighs a bit over 14 ounces. The crock is in good condition given its age. It has no cracks, hairlines, or repairs. It does have general crazing throughout and losses to the glaze inside and out, which can be seen in the photos. The exterior glaze also shows scratches as if someone took a pin to it sometime in the past, which can be seen in the photos. The piece also has some minor shallow chips or flakes where the glaze is lost around the inside and outside of the rim and one or two small old chips at the base, which can be seen in the photos. Finally as is the case with all these primitive old redware pieces, the crock has a few of the usual defects you would expect such as pops, unglazed areas and uneven spots. Please carefully review the photos to fully appreciate the beauty and condition of this old piece.
