Seal Roman Cuirass Phrygian Cap of Liberty
This is a pair of vintage United States Army Retired pins. The center of the pin is gold and has the seal of the United States Army in the middle. The symbol features a Roman Cuirass, which is a symbol of strength and defense. There is also a Phrygian cap (Cap of Liberty), a scroll and a rattlesnake. There are numerous other images that represent Army implements. The outside circle has four stars and the words “United States Army Retired” in gold letters on a green background. The pins both have clutch back push pins to hold it in place. Each pin measures approximately 5/8 of an inch in diameter. One of the pins is marked 11C and G1, the other is a C and a G. I don’t know what the letters and numbers stand for, if you know I would appreciate hearing from you. Retired lapel pins are issued to members of the Armed Forces upon their departure from the military. This Army Retired pin was the official retired lapel pin for U.S. Army Veterans from 1968 to 2007. These belonged to my father who served during WWII and was a retired Colonel, he passed away in 2006.
These two lapel pins are in great vintage condition as you can see by the enlarged photographs. Please look at the photos as they are part of the description and show the details better than I can describe.
