This text, on 8 1/2 x 11" sheets, explains the automotive vehicle in general. The explanations avoid reference to any specific vehicle or unit wherever possible since a treaded tank or armored car carrier is still a basic automobile. The flow of power is traced from its development in the engine to its final outlet at the wheels, with the components/systems discussed in the order in which they contribute to the power flow. Physics is mentioned but only indirectly as the emphasis is practicality and less scientific.
Originally published in 1956, this 1985 production is noted to supersede the earlier.
The loose-leaf book was in a plastic wrap but the corners got bumped. Pages are perfectly clean and appear unread. While the manual will not include the newest electronic control systems, the elements of propulsion, braking, transmission and ignition are comprehensively covered to enable understanding.
